MARINERS' LEGAZPI Donates 165 sets of PPE's for the Frontliners and Healthworkers of Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital (BRTTH)

The donation drive was part of the commemoration of the 98th birth anniversary of our founder, Commo. Jaime C. Jimenez Sr., on April 30, 2020.

This is an unprecedented time, and a community effort is needed to meet the immediate needs of our frontline healthcare staff as they care for patients. To help and address the critical shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE) during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Special thanks to the donors, the MPCF Legazpi Alumni Association, our partners, the Board of Trustees and the Jimenez family for their contribution to help keep our frontliners safe.

Message from the Mariners' Legazpi President Ms. Merle Jimenez - San Pedro

Best Easter Wishes of Love, Life and Hope with the Risen Christ!

This year’s Easter celebration is probably one that all of us will never forget in our lifetime. The world is in the middle of the 2019 Corona Virus pandemic and everywhere you will see the cloud of anxiety hanging above our heads.

As we celebrate Jesus’ resurrection today, I am reminded that even the gloom of anguish and death could not conquer Faith, Hope and Love. Each day as we battle with daily news on CoVid19 not just in the Philippines but globally, we are presented with the opportunity to put our faith, our hope and our love into action.

We put our faith into action when we find creative ways to praise and thank God for our daily blessings which come unnoticed for many. When we couldn’t gather in church, our prayers continue to resound from the confines of our homes and in the deepest corner of our minds and hearts.

We put our hope into action when we pray for our leaders and we believe in our hearts that like all other crises in the past, our nation and the world will emerge victorious against CoVid-19. “Hope does not disappoint,” as Pope Francis have said.

Finally, we put our love into action when we reach out to others with kindness and generosity. Every day, the gloom brought about by the surging CoVid-19 statistics is overshadowed by stories of people helping and cheering up one another and giving whatever they have to help our fellow Filipinos. These stories of ‘bayanihan’ are no less than love in action.

In our own little way, MPCF-Legazpi has extended our love to our community and we will continue to find creative ways of helping one another in these trying times.  Together with the Office of Research and Extension Services, our Alumni Association has recently provided assistance to our employees affected by the prolonged Enhanced Community Quarantine through our #iFlexBayanihan. Additionally, our Founder’s Day on April 30 will be marked by a fund drive dedicated to support the  health  professionals and frontline workers at the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital through  donation of Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) for their continued protection from transmission of the infection.

Some of our teaching and non-teaching personnel are working quietly in the background to ensure that our students are given the opportunity to continue their learning under the Alternative Flexible Learning Scheme (ALFAS) during the ECQ.  As an institution of higher learning, we are morally obliged to take the challenge of providing this service to our students and parents as our stakeholders without prejudice to the safety of our  faculty  and officials.

To our beloved students,  my prayer is that you will look after your  safety,  health and your wellbeing. Use the time that you have right now to continue to learn and be productive at home. Do not dwell on the negativity brought about by the situation but look at the bright side.  Transform the fear and even boredom into  positive action to better oneself,  be critically aware of  your environment  and  choose to be kind to those in need during this crisis —  in there you will find faith, hope and love in action.

Above all, let us turn the overwhelming feeling of uncertainty  into  a sea of  resounding prayers and thank God every day for  the  much needed healing of  our nation and the world!
